The project comprises a group of nine wind energy plants located in the province of Zaragoza
ACCIONA Industrial, in a joint venture with the companies Copsa and ENGIE, has begun construction on the Goya Project, a complex formed by nine wind energy plants with a total installed capacity of 300 MW, located between the towns of Aguilón, Azuara, Fuendetodos, Herrera de los Navarros y Almonacid de la Cuba (Zaragoza).
The wind power complex will cover electricity consumption equivalent to that of the population of Zaragoza (over 661,000 residents) and will prevent the emission of over 314,000 tonnes of CO2 a year.
The ground-breaking ceremony took place on 11 June, attended by ACCIONA Industrial T&D and Installations director Miguel Ángel Acosta and ACCIONA Industrial Central Facilities delegate, Fernando Jiménez Córdoba.
ACCIONA Industrial, together with its two partners, will undertake the BOP (Balance of Plant) contract, providing engineering, supply, construction, installation and civil works testing; the medium-voltage grid; the electricity evacuation system and connection to the wind farm grid.
The Goya Project is driven by Mirova, GE, Engie and Forestalia, with funding from the BEI, BBVA, CaixaBank and Santander. The total financing for this project is approximately €310 million.
This project consolidates ACCIONA Industrial’s position as a leading player in the development of EPC projects for renewable energy generation, having participated in emblematic projects such as the 424 MW Reynosa Wind Farm, the largest in Mexico, capable of supplying clean energy to nearly one million residents.
