The president of the Balearic Islands government, Francina Armengol; the Spanish Minister of Industry, Reyes Maroto; the Mayor of Lloseta, Xema Muñoz; the CEO of ACCIONA Energy, Rafael Mateo; the managing director of ACCIONA Industrial, Ramón Jiménez; and other corporate executives, today signed an agreement to promote eight industrial projects in this district of Mallorca, with a combined investment of €41 million that will generate 90 direct and indirect jobs.
The purpose of the agreement is to implement the letter of intent agreed between the regional government and the Ministry of Industry in December last year, to find reindustrialisation alternatives for the Lloseta area.
In the case of ACCIONA, the company will take part in two projects to promote the decarbonisation of the Balearic economy by constructing a renewable hydrogen plant that in turn will be exclusively powered by photovoltaic energy.
The two initiatives, which will also involve Enagás, have already received the support of the Institute for Energy Diversification and Savings (IDAE) and collaboration from the Mallorca Transport Consortium and Palma’s Municipal Transport Company (EMT Palma).
The president of the Balearic Islands explained that the projects will help to “reindustrialise the zone”, emphasising that these initiatives are “extremely important in terms of the economy, the environment and for employment”.
